1. if I have to blend big area i use graphite/charcoal powder and blend them with cotton ball.
2. if I have to blend very small portion and pricisely, then I always use blending stumps and ear buds and filbart brush after applying pencil.
3. if I need to blend modarate portion of area (not so big area and not so small area), then i always apply tissue paper / makeup brush (different sizeses according to need) for getting smooth and uniformly blending over the pencil shad.

always remember you hv to use gradual shading.
suppose, you need a light shade (like HB tone), you will simply use HB pencil directly. But when you need a slightly darker shade (like 6B, 10B tone), then you apply gradual shading.
.
1. For 6B : apply HB > blending > 2B > Blending > 4B > Blending > 6B > Blending.
2. For 10B : apply HB > blending > 2B > Blending > 4B > Blending > 6B > Blending > 8B > Blending > 10B > blending.

Your pencil must to be point sharp always from lower grade to higher grade pencil. Always use good sharpner to avoid pencil led breakage issue. otherwise you can use mechanical pencil to get good and sharp lines. always rotate your pencils, cause it helps to keep sharp your pencil even long time after a single sharpned.

It depends on which types of drawing you want to make. If yours drawing will be darker that means you have to put lots of graphite on the paper, so in that case we have to choose textuary paper, cause it can hold lots of graphite layers.
if your drawing will soft and light shaded not too dark then you can choose smooth surface paper. cause in this case not need to hold lots of graphite layers.
